Father's Day

This past Sunday was so special and sweet for my two favorite people to celebrate Father's Day together. I was able to squeeze out a dress for the little papoose to wear for the occasion. I decided to go with an all-white creation to make things simple, and it turned out so beautifully. I kept wanting to add a pop of color or some other pattern, but I'm glad I was able to refrain myself because there's something so angelic and timeless about it.

We managed a quick little Daddy-Daughter photo session to commemorate the day, and just like all the Mother's Day pictures, these turned out so beautifully that I'm going to have to print some off. I love how these two interacted with each other. Daddy was much more daring in his poses than Mommy was, but the little papoose loved being swung and tossed around. I can definitely see the bond between them, and they just look so happy together!

Onederland Party

My niece's first birthday party in "Onederland" was a total success, my sister did such an amazing job putting everything together and styling it perfectly! I love how whimsical the theme was and how it translated into this perfect little storybook party. I took over 450 pictures, so I think there are plenty to choose from for any type of scrapbooking or memory keeping that may occur.

Luckily, both dresses I made for the birthday girl fit, so I was super happy she was able to wear them both. She made her grand entrance in the Alice inspired dress, then stripped down to her smash cake outfit that included the fun little "Miss June" sash I made for her, and finally, her oh-so-glamorous pink pinafore debuted when she opened all her presents. She was the perfect little princess, and I'm so glad I was able to help bring it to life!

Alice in Wonderland Inspired Outfit

Since my sweet niece was celebrating her first birthday with a party in "Onederland," I naturally had to make her an Alice inspired outfit for her to wear for the big day. I hadn't drawn out a design until the day I sat down to sew, but I knew what I wanted for a long time before that and it had been in my head for awhile. Luckily, therefore, I has mentally redesigned and reworked it until I knew it would turn out perfectly without having any major difficulties that made me go back to the drawing board. Unlike the pinafore that took forever and a day, but still turned out cute because I was so determined it would be, darn it!

The outfit is made of fairly simple designs, but once you put them all together, it just creates this darling look. I sewed ruffles on the hemline of the blue dress and created balance by doing a ruffled collar as well. I wanted some interest around the neckline so I cut a keyhole and added two black ties to create a bow. I then cut low on the apron bib to showcase the dress front, and added simple, long shoulder sashes that loop through the waistband to tie into a bow at back. I love this little outfit so much that I decided to add the design to the shop, but I'm happy the first one was created especially for my little niece!

Birthday Pinafore

My niece's first birthday party is coming up this weekend, and though I still have so much sewing to do before the big day, one item can now be crossed off the list! My sister asked me to make a simple cotton pinafore with lace and ruffles, but when I got started my creativity took over. I did get permission along the way with my design and fabric choices, so I'm hoping she likes it and that I didn't go overboard. I mean it's my niece's first birthday party, so go big or go home, right?

This little thing took forever to come to life. I started on the idea over a month ago and went fabric shopping back in April, and the skirt was such a pain to gather and sew. I'm seriously going to cry if my sister doesn't like it or it doesn't fit. The theme of the party is a visit to "Onederland" so I went super girly to match the tea party decorations. I think the blush silk is beyond gorgeous, and the gathered ruffles take it to another level. I am in love with the way it turned out. It's going to be difficult to part with it, but since it's for such a special little girl, I am so excited to see her in it!
