Flower Girl Dresses

All I hear lately is how everyone is so excited about Spring finally arriving. Not me. Down here it's already pushing 80 degrees, and I'm so missing my cold nights! Everyone just sleeps so much better with a little crisp in the air, but those days are quickly being replaced by my A/C, bless it, attempting to cool everyone down in a house that seems to absorb all the heat. My little papoose has mastered turning over now and is quickly becoming more active so we'll have to keep the house cool for her. At least that's my argument to the hubby!

Ironically, it was apparently freezing in Montgomery this past weekend when my sister's brother-in-law got married, and my precious little niece was one of the flower girls. Before everyone turned blue from freezing during the family pictures, a few shots were taken of the cutest little papoose modeling the dress I made. I loved being asked to make the little dresses. I think they turned out very sweetly, but of course, she wears it so well!

Fan Fav: Elmo Party Dress

The weather is fluctuating so drastically here in south Mississippi that it went from 73 degrees yesterday to 36 degrees currently. I had to put another quilt back on the bed and bust out the warm flannels for the little papoose. Now we're all nice and toasty again and staying mostly indoors. It's the perfect excuse to work on my sewing to-do list. I managed to finish one of the three lace and satin flower girl dresses this past weekend, and since the wedding is at the end of the month, I'm down to the wire on getting them all completed.

I'm finally getting around to sharing these pictures. A mom contacted me after seeing the original Elmo Party Dress somewhere on the Internet and used her detective skills to track me down. She liked it so much that she wanted one like it for her little papoose's first birthday. I was so excited and amazed that she went through all that trouble to find me. I had to use a different stripe fabric because the original was a vintage scrap I used all up. I think it turned out wonderfully though, and the sweet lace she added only adds to the charm of this dress!
